The History of Cape Cod
M. T. Buckley
The pilgrims
came in boats
sat offshore
guzzling rum
then decided
to conquer it
from the clams
and the Mashpee Indians.
They still own it
but they rent it
back to the clams
and those others
by the week
or the month.
If a tenant can’t
get up the rent
the pilgrims eat him.
