Susan Isla Tepper is the author of nine published books of fiction and poetry. Currently, she’s in pre-production stage of mounting an Off-Broadway play titled The Crooked Heart, based on Jackson Pollock in his later years on Long Island, which she adapted from her novel What May Have Been. The book was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Tepper has received many awards and honors, which also include 19 Pushcart Prize nominations, 7th Place Winner in Francis Ford Coppola sponsored Zoetrope Contest for the Novel (2006), Second Place Winner in Story/South Million Writers Award, Best Story in 17 Years of Vestal Review, NPR’s Selected Shorts Series for ‘Deer’ nominated by American Letters & Commentary (Anna Rabinowitz, editor) and more. Prior to taking up the writing life, Tepper was an actress, singer, TV producer at Futurevison Cable (now Time Warner), flight attendant, marketing manager for Northwest Airlines, rescue worker and a few other occupations.
