Tides
the tide muscles its way
on shore incrementally
quietly until it reaches
its zenith stays for awhile
& begins its retreat daily
it pushes its way to dune’s
edge yet no further there
is no place for it to go
further no place to go
such is the fate of tides

His poems, essays, critiques, and other works have appeared in a number of publications, including in several past issues of Gargoyle. He is presently completing work on Aspiring to a Full Consent: New and Selected Poems. He and his wife of 50 years reside in Historic Mount Rainier, Maryland.
