Jabari Asim is an American author, poet, playwright, and professor of writing, literature and publishing at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, who spent eleven years (1996–2007) at The Washington Post as deputy editor of the book review section, children’s book editor, poetry editor, and editor of the Washington Post‘s Education Review. His books include: a collection of essays, We Can’t Breathe: On Black Lives, White Lies and the Art of Survival (2018), plus the short story collection A Taste of Honey (2009), the novels Only the Strong (2015) and Yonder (2022), a poetry collection Stop and Frisk (2020), as well as many children’s books.
Sanderia Faye is the author of Mourner’s Bench, winner of the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award for debut fiction, Philosophical Society of Texas Award of Merit for fiction, and Arkansas Library Association, Arkansiana Award. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The New Yorker, New York Times, and Southwest Review. She is a professional speaker, activist and sommelier, where she pairs wine with books. She is the founder and host of LitNight Reading Series, co-founder of Kimbilio Center for Fiction and co-leader of Pen America/Dallas.
