a deictic triptych

The wastobe land a lottuse land […]
Finnegans Wake

I.

look that way suggests
clouds of doubt precipitate
lyric I/you catastrophes in lavender

tirades whisper
songs of nature’s obvious secrets
beads of prismy drops clinging

spider webs under that old bleak magic
called cumulo-nimble
travel high higher

it goes without slaying
until your tryst fund loses interest
and my weeping ebbs

II.

look that way suggests
a new paradigm
a bevy of thought experiments

may I call you Neils and Albert
now is fine but which way was remember
and which way will be project

on one night stand or one night seat
and discover something
the existence of which is in doubt

to the last still able of recorded crime
heating to incandescence
in the bow wave of a rogue blue giant

III.

look that way loosens chthonic chills
tendrils touch so light
so soft on an outer epidermis

already losing ergs to airlessness
escaping with grace and stealth
far o far to a more distant Zanzibar

in the dark reaches between galactic clusters
like a translucent finger
lighting fools the way to lone companionship

within eternal frozen nests
of that deepest vacuum foam
hissing in silence within within
