The Drift

David Hickman

I have lost no weather
to this continent
of thick and waking snow
whose breasts are your
smooth Appalachians
whose thighs are my
sad moraines
whose wrists are the
rivers that take the
land
where time is only
motion
spreading from the sea
and faces are the overcasts
that swirl and empty
constantly.
